Dressing up as Kurtis Blow at a party is not the same exact thing

as full-on minstrel-style blackface standing next to a Klansman in the yearbook. I don't even think it's hypocritical Herring said Northam should resign, the two things are so different in my mind. Herring is basically Jimmy Kimmel as Karl Malone on Comedy Central in the mid 2000s. Northam, I don't know what the eff that's supposed to be.

Ultimately the blackface resignations would be about "loss of trust", it's not criminal. With Northam I can understand how that's legitimately the case, I don't think the Legislative Black Caucus is even calling for Herring to resign. They wouldn't open the door for an R governor obviously, but it's also a pretty different thing. Even if Kurtis Blow himself is conflating the two.
